Founders’ Next Move is a selective, complimentary community for experienced tech founders researching their next move. We share no-cost resources to help founders learn how to angel invest; scout for VC funds; join a VC fund; negotiate a partner role at a fund; build a VC fund; ideate startup ideas; buy a company with investor backing; become an interim executive; consult via expert networks; join a board; consult; advise investors; just get a job; and/or work on their personal growth. We organize periodic events and particularly welcome women and underrepresented minorities.
I’m David Teten, serial founder (2 exits) and formerly Partner with Coolwater Capital (GP stakes investor in emerging VC funds); Managing Partner, HOF Capital and ff Venture Capital (two VC firms); and Founder, HBS Alumni Angels of NY.
I built Founders’ Next Move for two reasons:
- First, early in my career, I realized that I was on the “founder” career path, which is not the conventional career path I studied in business school. At different points, I had sold (or shut down) my company and thought, “What do I do now?” I started gathering notes on what my options were.
- Second, years ago I founded and was CEO of Circle of Experts, an expert network research company (sold to Evalueserve). We worked with thousands of founders and executives in transition. I paid them $250-$7,000/hour to consult to my hedge fund/private equity/investment bank clients. I started developing resources to better serve these executives in transition.
I now share, for free, all of these resources on this site. We also manage a free, gated online community for founders in transition. Apply here.
